Our Story
1987: Humble Beginnings
K&B Transportation was founded by Ken Ackerman in Sioux City, IA. The 25 tractor and 85 meat rail trailer operation was responsible for hauling carcass meat from the IBP kill plants to the IBP processing plants.
1989: Starting Over the Road
IBP decided to move their carcass meat on their own tram trailers causing K&B to start focusing on moving freight throughout the Greater Midwest.
1997: Relocation
To make the transportation process easier and be closer to the IBP plants, the company moved to their current location in South Sioux City, NE.
1999: Fleet Continues to Grow
Artex Transportation is acquired along with its 25 tractor.
2000: New Leadership
Ken Ackerman stepped down from the company and his sons (current owners) Brock and Kory Ackerman took over the day to day operations.
2001: More Growth
Marx truck line is acquired along with its 30 tractors.
Today
Now a leader in the transportation of perishable food products, we have grown our operation to include over 2,000 pieces of equipment and opened new lanes of travel. In addition, a secondary building was built to house our recruiting, safety/logs, driver classroom and body shop.
